The cartoon is a little depressing, but there are signs that 2004 will be a good year: nothing happened, in terms of terrorism, on Dec. 31; and a visit to Starbuck’s -- mentioned only as an update to a past reference -- reveals a simplified menu.
When it comes to good omens, I’ll take what I can get.
